Admit Cards Now Available for CUET UG 2026

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the admit cards for candidates scheduled to take the rescheduled Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 examination on May 31, 2026. This important announcement was made public through a notice signed by Dr. Archana Shukla, Director of NTA. Candidates who are set to take the exam on June 6 or 7, 2026, can expect their admit cards to be available shortly.

Rescheduling Due to Eid al-Adha

The rescheduling decision was necessitated by a public notice issued on May 24, 2026, which confirmed that the CUET UG exams originally slated for May 28, 2026, in both shifts, would be postponed. The shift in examination dates was prompted by the observance of Eid al-Adha. The exams will now be conducted in two separate sessions: one on May 31 and the other on June 6 or 7.

Candidates are instructed to log in to the official CUET portal at cuet.nta.nic.in using their registration credentials in order to download their updated admit cards. Additionally, NTA has emphasized the importance of reviewing the instructions on the admit card carefully before proceeding to the examination center.

Overview of CUET UG 2026 Examination

The CUET UG 2026 examination commenced earlier this month on May 13 and is being conducted in multiple shifts to facilitate admissions into various undergraduate programs at central universities and other participating institutions nationwide. This year's examination is expected to span a significant part of June, covering a diverse range of subject papers.

In the event of difficulties with downloading admit cards or discrepancies in the details, candidates are encouraged to contact the NTA Help Desk at 011-40759000 or reach out via email at cuet-ug@nta.ac.in. For the latest updates, it is advisable for candidates to frequently check both nta.ac.in and cuet.nta.nic.in.

A Record Number of Registrations

In a remarkable turnout, 15,68,866 candidates have registered for CUET UG 2026. The exam structure allows candidates to select up to five subjects, leading to a staggering total of approximately 67.5 lakh test instances.

  • **Average subjects chosen per candidate**: 4.31
  • **Candidates selecting five subjects**: Over **8.6 lakh**
  • **Unique subject combinations recorded**: **12,906**

This wide array of subject choices highlights the diverse interests and academic aspirations of the candidates participating in the examination.

Navigating the Complexity of the Examination Process

To accommodate the large volume of candidates, the examination is being conducted across 35 shifts nationwide. The NTA has stated that the allocation process for candidates must consider several factors simultaneously, including:

  • Chosen city
  • Subject combinations
  • Specific shift timings for those subjects

The distribution of registrations shows a significant concentration in a few states, with approximately 43% of registrations coming from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi. This concentration has put considerable strain on the available computer-based testing facilities in high-demand urban areas.

Why It Matters

The CUET UG 2026 exam not only plays a crucial role in shaping the academic futures of millions of candidates but also reflects the evolving landscape of higher education in India. With increasing numbers of students participating, the examination serves as a vital gateway to securing admissions in prestigious institutions.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next?

As we move toward the exam dates, candidates should prepare thoroughly and remain updated via the official channels. The NTA is expected to roll out further communications regarding the June exams, and candidates must stay vigilant for any changes.

With a record number of registrations and the complexities involved in managing such a vast examination, the NTA’s ability to conduct a smooth testing process will be crucial. As the examination approaches, all eyes will be on the NTA to ensure that everything runs seamlessly, providing candidates the opportunity to showcase their capabilities and secure their spots in the universities of their choice.
