Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Indian Oil urges LPG users to book cylinders only when needed to avoid panic buying and hoarding. Stay informed!
GlipzoThis advisory comes as many consumers are understandably worried about the future availability of LPG, leading them to place orders earlier than usual. Indian Oil reassured the public, stating, "IndianOil continues to ensure steady LPG availability for households across the country. We understand that some customers may be booking refills earlier than usual. However, advance or panic bookings can temporarily increase demand and affect delivery timelines."
On March 14, bookings for LPG saw a sharp decline, dropping to approximately 77 lakh from 88.8 lakh the previous day, according to the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Interestingly, online bookings have risen significantly during this period, showing an increase from 84% to nearly 87%. This shift indicates a growing reliance on digital platforms for essential services amid rising fears of shortages.
Recently, Indian-flagged LPG tankers, the Shivalik and Nanda Devi, successfully reached Mundra Port in Gujarat, delivering about 92,712 MT of LPG. This delivery is crucial as it helps to stabilize supply amidst the backdrop of increasing tensions in West Asia. The Indian government has also reassured citizens that there have been no reports of fuel shortages at retail outlets, thanks to directives for refineries to maximize production and ensure effective distribution.
As the situation continues to evolve, residents are encouraged to stay informed about the latest news and updates regarding LPG availability and pricing.
In conclusion, the call from Indian Oil to book LPG only when necessary is a reminder of the interconnectedness of global events and local markets. Staying informed and responsive to these changes will be crucial for all consumers in navigating this period of uncertainty.
