In a recent appearance on a talk show hosted by Sania Mirza, Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza shared personal insights into their life together as a couple. The discussion highlighted their experiences from early marriage to parenthood, providing fans with a glimpse into their private world.
During the show, the couple was asked to reflect on surprising habits they discovered about each other after moving in together. Riteish humorously recounted how he was taken aback by Genelia’s vibrant morning personality. "The first time she said 'Good morning!', I was like, ‘What happened?’" he recalled, showcasing his disbelief at her early morning enthusiasm.
Genelia elaborated on their morning routines, revealing that she typically woke up around 6:30 AM, while Riteish preferred to sleep in until nearly 11:00 AM. "Mornings were a slow start for me,” Riteish joked, adding that he wasn’t particularly chatty at that hour. Genelia remarked on Riteish's preference for a quieter morning atmosphere, saying, "He was shocked by my chirpy-choo, and I was surprised that he could remain silent in the mornings!"
The conversation took a heartfelt turn as the couple discussed the transition to parenthood and its emotional challenges. Genelia shared a tender moment from their first night as new parents, describing Riteish as being filled with anxiety. "He didn’t sleep the whole night after our child was born," she said, encapsulating the worry that often accompanies new parents.
Riteish explained his concern, stating, "My issue was that the baby was so small. I was constantly checking to see if he was breathing." He humorously demonstrated how he would peer into their baby’s nostrils, noting, "The nostrils were so tiny that they hardly moved, which made me anxious."
The discussion also touched on Genelia’s decision to take a decade-long break from acting after becoming a mother. She articulated her mindset during that time, stating, "I didn’t contemplate the repercussions when I made that choice. I was very clear that I could either focus on my family or my career, but not both at the same time." She expressed admiration for women who successfully juggle both roles.
Despite stepping back from the spotlight, Genelia continued to work behind the scenes on various projects through their production company, Mumbai Film Company, among other ventures. "I had some work going on; it just wasn’t in films," she clarified. Eventually, she made a comeback to acting with the Marathi film Ved, directed by Riteish.
Genelia revealed that Riteish played a pivotal role in her return to acting. "He was the one who encouraged me, saying, ‘I don’t know what you’re doing at home when you know you can act.’ I often doubted my ability to balance both responsibilities, but he assured me, ‘We will find a way,’" she recounted.
Riteish reciprocated the praise, declaring, "I’m a huge fan of Genelia’s craft." He emphasized the joy he feels when directing her, stating, "It’s a delight to give an actor a line and watch them bring something extraordinary to life on-screen."
The heartfelt revelations by Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh during their talk show appearance have offered fans an intimate look into their marriage and family life. Their shared experiences underscore the importance of support and understanding in relationships, particularly as they navigate the challenges of parenthood and career choices. The couple's candid discussion not only entertains but also inspires many who may find themselves in similar situations.
