IMD issues orange alert for heavy rains in multiple states until March 31. Discover what to expect and how to prepare for severe weather conditions.
GlipzoAccording to the latest press release from the IMD, there will be “isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds likely over the Western Himalayan region until March 27. Following this, the rainfall is expected to become more widespread from March 28-31. The plains of northwest India are also projected to experience isolated to scattered rainfall activity until the end of the month.
In addition to the orange alert, several northwestern, central, and southern states are under a yellow alert for rainfall today. The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, particularly over Punjab until March 28. Similar forecasts apply to East Uttar Pradesh today and Rajasthan through March 28.
Furthermore, a nowcast warning for potential downpours has been issued for regions including Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, and Karnal in Haryana. Light rain is also anticipated in upcoming hours for various locations in Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Gangoh, and Deoband.
